well, I’m german, but not catholic so I just thought "I see" when I read the news. he’s known here for being a moral hardliner, concerning contraception etc.

Anna and Keeko got in the car this afternoon in a real huff, I asked what the problem was and they said "We got a new pope." The German guy, he’s going to take masses back to Latin, He’s not like John Paul, yeah, he’s no good, we wanted the African guy, yeah, that would have been cool. This guy has the word Rat in his last name. Why not a South American, that would have been nice and on and on it went.

Well, as silly as the pope might seem to non-Catholics, John Paul will be a tough act to follow.

I watched David Icky’s video "Children of the Matrix" I think was the title, just three weeks ago or so, and I knew a bit about him, I knew he was a nut
but after seeing the videos (friend Joel forced me) I realize David Icke is NOT STUPID.

    a bit about the video:
Mr. David Icke (pronounced Ike) David exposes the real story behind global events which shape the future of human existence and the world we leave our children. Fearlessly, and often humorously. He lifts the veil on an astonishing web of interconnected manipulation to reveal that the same few people, secret societies and organizations control the direction of our daily lives. They engineer wars, violent revolutions, terrorist outrages and political assassinations; they control the world market in hard drugs and, "the media indoctrination machine". Some of the people involved are very well known. David also offers an inspiring spiritual solution in which every man, woman and child on Planet Earth breaks free of this daily programming… It starts with getting rid of your television. ( the "coup d"etat on the human mind" and takes back there infinite power to think for themselves and decide their own destiny. His words are designed to inspire all of us to be who we are, to fling open the door of the mental prison we build for ourselves, and to walk into the light of freedom.

no matter who the pope is, i don’t see the catholic church changing its stance on contraception, gay people etc any time soon …

they have so much power + influence over so many people …

    it’s just so sad … :(

Who has so much power over so many people, The Pope? The Catholic Church? Good God we wish! I think the World has much more power than the church over "the people"

Ummm, visit some Catholic web-sites if you need a refresher but the Catholic church, by dogma, is anti-WAR, anti-death penality, and we believe MEN, not God wrote the bible.

With out writing the beginning of a thesis which I believe very few would be interested in, I wish to put in my thoughts on contraception, especially
"the pill" which is manufactured from the urine of horses, not very sexy.
Gosh I just can’t get into writing it. Know thy lover is all I can say, if you use contraception, it is easier to fall into bed with whom ever whenever you can. God gives us women a pretty big clue as to when we can get pregnant, We bleed on the new or full moon, that means if you are on a full moon cycle you can get pregnant around new moon. For a few days around your "be careful" days one must get creative when it comes to sex.
Okay, so this doesn’t work with sixteen year old girls. My last little bit "o bitchin’ How many women do I know righ t now that have herpes? I know like six, these are friends who have been open enough to say something to me, to share a bit of their anguish, how many people in my life have herpes but I just don’t know about it? That is so sad, that is just so sad and it is forever. I am sure it was contaception that allowed for them to fall into bed with some one who had herpes and did not say a thing to them. I tell my girls already, please get to know a guy first, meet his parents, meet his brothers, Does he have a sister? Look at his relationship with her, that can tell you a lot. I believe if he takes the time to bring you into his life he will take the time to tell you he has herpes if he does. Women have to take care of themselves because when it comes to sex men are well, most of us know how men are when it comes to sex.

What did John Paul say over and over? Help the poor and the needy. Help those who need help. Be with the sick and suffering. It makes me almost cry, who goes to the womens cancer center here in Athens and hold womens hands, who goes to the shelter for battered women and their children here in Athens and puts in flowerbeds and offers free babysitting? Who spends time a "pinewood" a real dump of a trailer park that has an open cess pool out back for the sewage teaching English to very poor Mexican women? Just a handfull of us Catholics. If the Pope had more of an influence over people, everybody would be reaching down and giving a hand up to those below us. In the words of Napolean Dynamite "GOSH"

P.S. the moderators may take this post down because of sexual content, I am not sure, I tried to keep in good taste.

I believe that the reasons for not using pills sound quite good and maybe there are many good thoughts behind them, but somehow i’ve gotten a little bit rude picture of the strict style of judging that the pope has done/does.
Im not sure, but i remember some ‘yellow-newspaper-rumours’ about little girls that have had to keep their babies despite their own will, and despite that they might have been raped etc. I do not know if that is only gossip for getting attention(newspapers). But I think those kind of cases should be, at least considered, forgiven.

I don’t want to insult anyone by going out and shouting bad things about things i dont know that much of. So maybe someone could correct me, i’ve gotten a little bit negative picture of it all.

Leaving the sexiness of horse urine aside…
What’s so wrong with condoms? (besides the obvious fact that it is just so much nicer to make love without one) If herpes is "just so sad", what is AIDS?
What’s so wrong with being gay?
What’s so wrong with Turkey entering the European union just because the majority of turks are muslims and not christians?

Whats wrong with condoms? I would say your obvious fact is good enough for me.
Condoms are just not sexy, I mean they’re made of plastic. Not that having a child is sexy either. Trust me on that one.

    Aids is sadder.

Whats wrong with being gay? Who knows?

Turkey entering the European Union? I am totally unable to speak on that one. We should defer that question to our German friends, I think they would have more insight into this one.

I think most people are going to do what feels right for them.

Yes and Aatos, I believe that abortion should always be a legal option. All women should have some freedom to determine what is right for their own spiritual quest. Being legally forced into someones idea of righteousness
sucks. One has to find righteousness on their own.

I had to edit and say Benedict XVI, is 78, just a few years short of JP11, at his death, I mean come on.

Since we`re talking about popes I know a story about Louis Armstrong meeting The Pope of the time 40 or 50 years ago.Louis and his wife and band were at The Vatican and The Pope asked Louis if him and his wife have any children.Louis replied:
‘No,but we have alot of fun trying’

The Pope and the cardinals looked like this:

That was Louis though, always joking around :)
