has anyone heard j hit a bad note soloing live, because i haven’t. even bands like the allman bros and little feat hit bad notes live every once in a while, but i’ve yet to hear j hit one live. his solo to gotta know sounds pretty heinous near the end though.

When you play guitar with a lot of distortion and loud like J does  is it easier to hide mistakes in a solo than when playing clean.

J uses natural vibrato and bends notes all the time and plays double stops which means more than one note is being played at a time, plus the tremolo and effects. So his notes are not as precise as say the cleaner allman brothers but that is not what he is going for. Thus I agree he rarely hits a wrong note or should I say rarely ever doesn’t sound like J. But he is sloppy sometimes, like that Slim’s recording is pretty sloppy.

yea, that is true. i guess i was thinking more along the lines of dead notes where no real sound comes out. i guess that would just make more of that wonderful feedback he has though.
