The DudeParticipanthey all, i was just wondering if any of you have picked up built to spill’s latest and your thoughts on it.
after the first listen, i was kinda disappointed. i just thought it sounded a lot different then any of the previous bts albums and it left a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak. however, i’ve found that with each successive hearing of the record, it gets better and better. i now really like it. my fav. track is "the weather" and i really dig the funky slide guitar on "happiness" (for some reason, it reminds me of the theme song for the mid/late 80’s tv show "simon & simon")
if you don’t have it yet, i really would recommend it and be sure not to judge too quickly if at first you don’t like it.
peace out,
The Dude

SGParticipantYeah,I like "The Weather" too.
I`m still have`nt formed a opinion on this album, some tracks are good and some need to grow on me a while.
Give me time to listen to it before I mention what I think of it.July 28, 2001 at 9:39 pm #64161
Bucky RamoneParticipantI’ve got the album for a week now, and I’ve been playing it a lot. Tracks I liked the most (up until now) are the opener "Strange", "Don’t try" and "The weather". Overall I think it will become one of my favourite albums of the year. Favourites of the year thusfar: Alejandro Escovedo "A man under the influence", followed by Steve Wynn "Here come the miracles"!
