Spaceboy-sounds like a cool list,I`m not going to post my top 10 until the end of Dec.,I already listed some in Hansione`s thread of album of the year, won`t be that diffrent except I`ll have to work out an order.

I don’t think I even bought 10 cds released this year….*shrug*

Hey Spaceboy,
No time to waste? You’ll get my list at the end of the year. Anyhow…your list contains at least one of the albums I’m crazy about (sparklehorse). Great list though!

Radiohead- Kid A
Modest Mouse- The Moon and Anarctica
J Mascis- More Light

I’m averse to putting Greatest Hits, Best ofs, and other collectinos of previously released material on my list, so:

Radiohead – Amnesiac
Radiohead – I Might Be Wrong
REM – Reveal
Tool – Lateralus
Modest Mouse – Everywhere & His Nasty Parlour tricks

Hey Spaceboy,

*Everywhere and his Nasty Parlour Tricks…MM
*The Essential Radio Birdman…Radio Birdman
*White Trash Soul…Hellacopters/Flaming Sideburns split disc

Obviously I am not averse to adding best of’s
But I do reserve the right to add any new things I pick up or remember

I couldn’t come up with ten; really weren’t a lot of new releases that appealed to me this year. But here’s my short list:

The Black Crowes- Lions
Tori Amos- Strange Little Girls
Missy Elliott- Miss E…So Addictive
Dolly Parton- Little Sparrow
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds- No More Shall We Part
Mighty Blue Kings- Alive in the City

and finally….if I may quote the editors at CDNow

Although the stellar country and bluegrass soundtrack O Brother, Where Art Thou? was released in December 2000, it made such a surprisingly tremendous impact on music in 2001, we thought better than to rule it out based on a small technicality.

O Brother takes the cake.

There are also some I suspect are good but haven’t had a chance to hear, like John Frusciante’s "To Record Only Water", Buddy Guy’s "Sweet Tea", and of course the Tenacious D album.

In accordance with what Salami said, there may still be one or two good releases in December (though I’m not aware of any at this time)…so I may come back once more to edit.

take care

Would that be a devil’s shit cake?

Sorry to be mean, I just REALLY hate that CD.

buckingham rabbit

i don’t think i bought 10 cds that were new releases this whole year, and i bought a lot of cds (what does that say?).

anyway, here is what i think i bought, in no particular order:

m. ward — end of amnesia
graeme downes — hammers and anvils
the clean — getaway
steve malkmus + jicks — steve malkmus
the chills — secret box
pernice brothers — the world won’t end

I think I bought about 20 cd`s from this year.
Rosa-I heard one song from Buddy Guy`s Sweet Tea,sounded pretty good,he`s one of my fav bluesmen, one of the first I listened to,still have an old live album from 74 that I listen to sometimes.Check out I Left My Blues In San Fransisco from 67,that`s a cool album.

Nice call on Dolly and Cave. Those were my two faves, hands down. Dolly’s cover of "Shine" is incredibile. "God is in the House" by Cave is great also. It has some many different themes within the space of one song, wow. Used it for a sociology class to great effect.

BTS-Ancient Melodies is good also.
Pennywise-Land of the Free? is good, but they released it just before 9/11. Heard they caught a lot of crap from KROQ in LA over a single being played. Pennywise, being the good hearted sorts, stopped touring for the moment in honor. They are great.

Henry Rollins-Nice I do not like it at all. Enough said.

Here’s my new improved list of 2001

This album is so fucking great
I never heard this band before
I discovered it this weekend when I was listening 2 Godspeed
+ this album is so amazing I had 2 put it in my list

01: Hayden – Skycraper National Park
02: A Silver Mount Zion – Born Into Trouble As The Sparks Fly Upward
03: Bonny Billy + Marquis De Tren – Get The Fuck On Jolly Live
04: Gore Slut – Girl + Turtles
05: Dinosaur Jr – Ear Bleeding Country
06: Bonnie Prince Billy – Ease Down The Road
07: Modest Mouse – Everywhere & His Nasty Parlour tricks
08: Sodastream – The Hill For Company
09: Smashing Pumpkins – Judas "O"/Rotten Apples
10: Radiohead – Amnesiac
