I just got back from Athens, GA, a mere 5 hours away, where I saw Guided By Voices at the legendary 40watt club.

OH DEAR LORD!!!! This is the first time I’ve seen them live, and may I say that it was a religious experience… As great as there albums are, they’re 100 times better live! Doug Gillard is my new guitar hero…

Dfkgurl, I noticed that you live in Jax… GBV will be there on Tuesday, if you weren’t already planning on going, I suggest that you check it out. If you already were planning on going then, well, have fun, you’re in for a treat. [img]http://www.freakscene.net/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] (I’m almost tempted to drive over to Jax to see them again, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to.)

Well, what are you waitin’ for!?! Go get them tix ‘fo it’s to late…

Unfortunately, it looks like I’m gonna be stuck in Tally that day… My car is not being very reliable right now, and there is a whole-hell-of-a-lot-of-nothing along I-10 and it’d really suck to get stranded.

I guess I’ll just have to settle with seeing them once in a week (poor me [img]http://www.freakscene.net/ubb/smilies/rolleyes.gif[/img] )

The Athens show was great though. They played for nearly 2 hours, double encore, and I got to shake the hands of both Bob Pollard and Doug Gillard…

Thanks for the review Mattman. I am planning on going if I can get tix before they sell out. I meant to go get them last night and forgot. They are playing in a small club (same place Watt played right before the Fog tour) called Jack Rabbits. It’s a good place to see anyone. You can easily be right up front (touching distance) and the sound is usually really good for such a small venue.
