Hey everyone, I’m new to the board, so I apologize if this has been asked before but I have a quick question:

What exactly is "Bulbs Of Passion"? Was it a B Side tacked onto the album reissue? I saw an OG tracklist of the Homestead version of the self titled LP and it was the last song? I’m confused as to why it’s the first song on the reissue. Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is the B-side to the Repulsion single. It was added to the end of the original CD. J said he would like it better as the first song. Thus, the reissued CD now has it that way. 8)

Yeah, J’s made it clear in a couple of recent interviews that he thinks that’s one of the best songs they did during that time. Somewhere on this board there’s an interview with him explaining the reasoning but so many interviews have been posted recently that I have no idea which one it would be.

    Welcome to the board!

It’s weird he’s that into the song. It’s a good song, but I don’t think it’s one of the best on that record! Thanks for the answers though, guys!

You know, I used to feel this way but it’s actually become my favorite on Dinosaur. I love the changes between screaming "Bulbs of Passion" and the really catchy, melodic part. Anyone else feel this way?

Its cool cause it has that whole soft/loud dynamic. Plus some of the jams are awesome, espcially the bass during the solo.

i’ve only heard this song recently and i think it rocks hard!!!!

it especially sounds great on the spaceland bootleg which you can d/l for free from freesofree.net … 8) 8) 8)

sometimes for me, it takes hearing the song live to truly appreciate it … like say a song like repulsion or thumb which sound completely different on their recorded versions … not that i don’t like the album versions, but i don’t think they have as much impact as the live versions …

this is a little off-topic now, but i’m so glad they’ve reissued these albums b/c i never owned the 1st one before now + it’s sort of forced me to go back + check it out …

That’s probably my favourite aspect of the song, also the way it’s kinda laid back with the "i sit queasy…" part then it becomes massively loud, the solos are fantastic too, it’s a brilliant song, probably my favourite from that album, either that or quest. In an interview (i think it might have been classic rock) J was asked which of the 3 reissues he’d recommend, he said your livin’ all over me ’cause Dinosaur was the band learnin’ to play and Bug was the band fallin apart. All I can say is I wish I sounded like that learnin’ to play.
