screamingjellyfishParticipantI’m going but I can’t really be bothered to lug the recorder. I’m sure someone will though and I’ll take some photos. Does anyone wonder if they’ll end on Poledo or how they’ll do it? It seems like a bit of an odd ending but it could be fantastic. I doubt they’ll end on Show Me The Way as J allegedly doesn’t like it (hence the new bonus track on the reissue) but they might do Just Like Heaven.
No matter what they do, I’ve loved this album since I was a kid, so even if I saw them at the Forum I’m unbelievably excited. Anyone know who’s supporting? Anyone bringing earplugs?

screamingjellyfishParticipantJust got back, ’twas very good. Better than the Forum shows as it was a bit quieter (still very loud though) and you could make out more of the songs. The whole album sounded great, especially Tarpit and Lose.
Lou came on with his big uke or little guitar (I couldn’t see, but probably uke) and played Poledo at the end, which sounded really good from what we could hear (he screamed for the noise in the middle). Unfortunately, this part of the gig was ruined by half of the people at the front with us either talking through it or shouting pointless rubbish. It’s a shame as it would have been spectacular if the whole place just went silent and stared at him. Oh well.
After a bit of "but that’s the album. That’s it. Go home. Go to bed. That’s it" and making fun of the Chilli Peppers (?) from Lou (J never seems to speak at these things), they came on for a first encore, Bulbs of Passion, Freakscene, something else I can’t remember now as we sinfully went to the cloakroom for a second before the big queue started. May have been some cover I didn’t recognise as I’m not too up on my non-dinosaur 80s stuff). They then left and after a long (at least 5 minutes) burst of feedback/noise, came on to play Budge and Forget The Swan (with a long but great J solo on the latter).
This was followed by some words about "the end" and that was it.
Very good gig. I’m pretty sleepy but I’m sure someone can do some long bit of prose for you later.
Oh, and like at the Forum gig (at which he definately was) methinks a Mr Kevin Shields was in the crowd at the front before walking off to be all trendy indie-hero at the sides.

swiftieParticipantOK….
So I just got home, the time is 3:56 in the morning, still I’m not that tired…
For the whole of YLAOM I stood on the third level right in the middle as I wanted to hear the best sound possible, a good mix of all three players. the view for me was pretty good and I’d already had a good ‘up the front’ experience at the Forum gig.
The gig was AMAZING, the guy above was right, it was better than the other London show… better sound, more energy… everything!
When they finished the whole album (lose and Lou’s last song was the highlight, couldn’t really the people shouting, maybe I just blocked it out) they came back on and played ‘forget the swan’ and ‘bulbs of passion’ during this I swapped my postion and sneak to the back stage area for a RAD view of the band, here I watched tham play ‘Just like heaven’, ‘Budge’, ‘Freak Scene’, ‘Chunks’, and then just when i thought it was all over they came back on for……………….wait for it…………………….’DON’T’!!!! YEP, thats right folks, you heard it here first, Lou screamed his lungs out….
Well I was back stage so I figured I’d go to the backstage bar… everyone was there, beer and all was flowing… everyone was on good form cuz it was the last date on the tour…I spent most of my time chatting to Lou… A real treat, the party ended at 2:30 ish….got some food, watched a fight, the night bus home.
Well folks, time for bed… to rest my ears and soul.
Till next time.
xxx
PS, cameras where there…. plus back stage!
DVD should be AMAZING!

ChrisSmallParticipantNot a bad show at all. It was a bit weird hearing Sludgefeast third, even though we all knew that’s where it would be and J seemed to tone down his guitar soloing a bit for the YLAOM songs. Very tight. Unfortunately, one absolute prick spoiled Poledo by shouting "woooo lou barloooooooow! sebadohhhhhhhhhh" over and over. Wanker. There were another couple of annoying people there too which spoiled things a bit unfortunately, but you can’t win em all. The most surreal moment of the night was the band coming back on to do "Don’t" when a lot of the crowd had already left the building. Never did I think I’d see Lou Barlow screaming "why don’t you like me?!" like a man possessed. Crazy moment.

SimonMParticipantWow – it was excellent, as everyone has said above. If I remember correctly, the YLAOM tracks were followed by Builbs of Passion, Freakscene and Just Like Heaven. At that point, it was about 11.10 and I unfortunately had to leave to catch a train from Paddington at 11.35. I was a little annoyed to miss the last couple of tracks, but at least I saw YLAOM.
After Lose, J and Murph left the stage and Lou grabbed his Uke and sat on a stool. After the noise blast of the earlier tracks, you had to concentrate the hear the relative quiet Poledo. That would have been fine, except I was quite close the aforementioned "Lou Barlooooow! Sebadooooh!" wanker. Perhaps he thought he was giving Lou words of encouragement for his solo performance, but he really spoiled it. Anyway…. it was still good.
The quality of the YLAOM performance was excellent. I’m not sure how well it would have worked towards the beginning of the reunion tour, but J, Lou and Murph are playing extremely well together now and seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves.

Will_75ParticipantThat idiot shouting during Poledo was the only downer on a fantastic night.
For those of you with confused memories, it went like this:
Little Fury Things
Kracked
Sludgefeast
The LungLou: "Side 2"
Raisans
Tarpit
In A Jar
Lose
PoldeoLou tells us all to go home. Â We refuse. Â He makes a crack about the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing Blood Suger Mirror Man Music here tomorrow. Â "You all need to go to bed. Â It’s your favourite album, right".
J returns: "We played the album what else are we supposed to do". Â Dinosaur launch into a fantastic four part encore…
Bulbs of Passion
Just Like Heaven
Freakscene-ear splittiing feedback-
*some people leave*
Budge
Forget the Swan*more people leave*
Chunks
a half empty venue rocks to…
Don’t.
Last night was a lesson in not leaving before the house lights come up… Felt sorry for those with last trains to catch…

Absolutely correct. I hung on and hung on even though I had to get to Waterloo for 23:50 to get a train back to darkest Twickenham and caught "Don’t" before thinking I had to leave. Still thought they might do one more after Don’t as I could hear someone shouting through the mic on stage as I left.

puke_and_cryParticipantSeriously, that was the best gig I have EVER seen! J’s solos sounded like they were ripping holes in the sky, Lou’s Rickenbacker was chundering and Murph was pounding serious skin.
BTW I think the running order was "Don’t" then "Chunks" (there was a fella standing behind me screaming for Chunks all the way through the set, hope he stayed until the end!)
J went a bit crazy during Chunks too, he was wielding his axe like a weapon then chucked one of Murph’s cymbal stands!ÂSeptember 1, 2005 at 12:52 am #112328
darrenParticipant100 % correct setlist
Little Fury Things
Kracked
Sludgefeast
The Lung
Raisans
Tarpit
In A Jar
Lose
PoledoBulbs Of Passion
Just Like Heaven
Freak SceneBudge
Forget The SwanDon’t
ChunksThe printed setlist that the band and sound desk used only had the Your Living All Over Me tracks + Bulbs Of Passion, Just Like Heaven Freak Sene and Don’t printed on them.
One of the roadies came on stage during Chunks on some guys shoulders, gave Lou and J a pat on the head and then fell onto Murphs drum kit ! J kept hitting the headstock of his guitar on one of Murphs cymbals and then picked it up and threw it to the ground.
The best gig I’ve seen in 14 years of seeing Dinosaur live
