I sorta hate meeting people I admire, because I don’t want to come off all groupie-like, or "hey I’m you’re biggest fan! Talk to me!". Usually I’m too shy or can’t think of anything intelligent to say….
Anyways I’ve met a few….
After a NIN concet back in, I guess, ’94 or ’95, I got Trent Reznor’s autograph… I hate autographs, they’re so cheezy!…we decided to hang out for awhile outside and then joined a bunch of people getting autographs…I think I might have said "great show" or something. He was very polite to everyone, kept thanking them; really quiet.
In ’96 I met Paul Leary and Gibby Haynes from the Butthole Surfers after their show. We were talking to Paul Leary first, he was really nice. Then crazy Gibby came out. It was exactly as I would have imagined him…rambling on, obviously drunk or high on something…he was really funny…we took pictures with him but he wouldn’t let me or my friend look at the camera. We have two different shots with him covering our faces.
About 2 years ago, after a Frank Black show, my friend’s little sister ending up talking to him and I joined them and we all got a photo with him. I can’t remember if I said anything to him…I was really drunk. I remember he was really nice though.
In ’96 I met Robert Smith and some other guys from The Cure. I was SO excited…they’ve been one of my favorite bands since I was 12. I got my Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me album signed by Robert, Roger and Perry. (Okay autographs aren’t that cheesy if it’s Robert Smith!) [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] [img]images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img] Roger and Perry were the sweetest guys. Simon Gallop went straight to the tour bus and didn’t talk to anyone. I was the second person to approach Robert. He acted REALLY weird. Really spaced out, eyes darting all around, seemed extremely nervous. My friend Cindy met him a little while after I did and he seemed a little more relaxed. We got a photo with him looking pretty freaked out.
