I know what your saying about the posing with the Hellacopters, thing is most of it is a huge tribute to their influences. Cover of the Payin The Dues Hellacopters disc is a nod to the MC5 disc The American Ruse…definitely cool to put your influences out there like that. The guitar excess/posing is also very influenced by Sonic Smith and Wayne Kramer and more than a few of my fav guitar players.
Check out the video for Toy’s and Flavors by the Hellacopters…then if you can check out the pic on the cover of the MC5 Teen Age Lust disc..you will see what I mean. In Crimson Ballroom some of the lines are directly related to being Sonics etc fans…going straight on Shaking Street to that place they don’t measure the beat. Super Sonic..got Electrophonic tonic..are just a few examples of some of the lines used to pay tribute to their oh so cool influences. So being a huge Sonic/Kramer/Stooges/Birdman/etc etc fan I love The Hellacopters…posing and all. Have you checked out all the stuff the Hellacopters have released, absolutely amazing amount of very cool tunes!!! They have done some singles with Scott Morgan of the Hydromatics and SRB that kill me every time. So yeah they have their excesses but hey definitely cool with me.
I have to admit though I had one of Roberts Coyote Ugly guilty pleasure moments when I first checked out that video for Toys and Flavors…WOW. Gave my head a shake and watched it again Hey I’m talking about the double kit and matching vox amps…well partially anyways
Never seen them but currently checking credit card limits for air fare
