I agree… It seems to me that it is the middle ground between emotion and technique where one will find the best sound.

That’s what I strive for in my playing. I’m not real big in the atonal stuff. It works for some bands (My Bloody Valentine and, on occasion, Yo La Tengo) but not for me.
