To get back to the subject:
The thing where J is so much better at than other guitarists, is putting emotion into his solo. And that is probably the influence of Neil Young. I remember Young once saying there can be so much emotion in just one note or a simple guitarriff. (Listen to ‘Everybody knows this is nowhere’!!!you’ll understand)
If you listen to legendary guitarists like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, you see that they are technically better than J (and way better than Young), but they can’t put that amount of emotion into their solo’s. The only one who can play like J, though in a very different way, is Jimi Hendrix, definitly the greatest guitarist of all times, but he lacks that beauty off his solos, in his songs, which make them weaker, and less good than J’s.
