Guess I did get a little carried away there, sorry. But I really feel J’s later stuff (how I classify Bug and beyond) is much better. That’s just my opinion and I recognize that. I started listening to J when I heard Start Choppin on the radio. Since becoming a full-fledged DJR geek I have acquired the older stuff too, and I like it, just not as enthusiastically or in the same way. There were obviously some cool tunes on Dinosaur and You’re Living All Over Me, but not the same kinda guitar-hero wailing-solo cool as the stuff on Green Mind and later, which is the main thing that attracted me to his music…that ability to make the guitar say more about your emotions than words ever could. I’ve always been totally into bands with the "right" guitar sound and no one has nailed it for me like J (Pink Floyd comes in a very close second). That and his melancholy vocal style… No offense to Lou fans, I definitely went overboard there.
