This album is a classic. I was just telling Wade (Seaweed's lead guitarist) that Four is the benchmark for me in regards to their albums. Its my favorite. I have heard snippets of some of the new stuff they are working on and it sounds great too. Maybe their best album is yet to come.

Agreed, for me I always thought the best music came out around then. But then again I was in the middle of it here in the greater Seattle area. Good times for sure. :)

I was in 'the next Seattle' as they called it :) The local stuff did`nt get around as much to the world as the Seattle area stuff though. We had three bands around here that were on Sub Pop.

You know, when someone tells you something in confidence, it's supposed to mean that you don't tell it to anyone else.
But yes, I was one of the cheerleaders in that video.

I've still been listening to Mew quite a bit. I like their sound. I've also been listening to a Dinosaur Jr bootleg I got from free so free (terminal 5 New York 9/26/08). It rad if I turn it up loud enough it almost feels like I'm at the show. I love it when that happens.

I would like to issue a warning at this point, they are danish. And I mean, yeah, the girls have great boobies and are allmost as nutters in bed as the germans, but come on, they are danes for christ sake.
Have you ever heard a dane speak ? It sounds like you're trying to start a car that has had the exhaust pipe stuffed with potatoes and bananas.

Yeah I know, I have never ever been into a Danish band before. Typically everything I've ever heard from Danish bands has sucked. But alas, something about Mew I seem to like. I guess the new Sonic Youth, Built to Spill, or Dinosaur can't come out soon enough.

The Decemberists - The Hazards Of Love
Though it isn't officially released until next tuesday I couldn't help myself when a friend stuck a cdr of the decemberists latest effort in my hand.
Continuing the road laid out on the magnificent crane wife hazards of love is the only rock opera I'd ever want to hear. Actually, I never had any idea I'd like to hear a rock opera until I heard this album.
It's darker by far than anything that has left Meloys mind up to this point and the beautiful orchestration is mixed splendidly with the result of the whole group shacking up with the mother zep.
And how right they are, what could be even remotely as hazardous as love ?
First came Eziah with his crinkled little fingers
Then came Charlotte and that wretched girl Dawn
    Ugly Myfanwy died on delivery
    Mercifully taking her mother along
    Alright, alright, alright

What can one do when one is widower
Shamefully saddled with three little pests
All that I wanted was the freedom of a new life
So my burden I began to divest
    Alright, alright, alright
    Alright, alright, alright

Charlotte I buried after feeding her foxglove
Dawn was easy, she was drowned in the bath
Eziah fought but was easily bested
Burned his body for incurring my wrath
    Alright, alright, alright
