`60s songwriter Ellie Greenwich died today at age 69 :( She and husband Jeff Barry wrote some classic rock and roll tunes, alot of girl group stuff.Neko Case revived their Train From Kansas City in her setlist in the last few years.
This is my favorite tune that she co wrote:(it was also covered by Blondie)

My new signature(and the previous one)was written by this guy...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CkWwpISHsM

The Shins covered that song actually

Rock*A*Teens was his previous band.Tenement Halls is his newer project though I think only one record has come from that.

Out of the 12 million and three songs you've mentioned before this is actually one that I've heard of. Granted, I heard The Shins cover first and then went in search of the original but I still feel like we should do a jumping up and down happy dance together and play this song while we do!
Good news everyone! Several years ago I tried to log on to AOL and it just went through!

Chris Lopez can write some incredibly happy tunes :) I highly recommend The Rock*A*Teens albums.BABY A LITTLE RAIN MUST FALL and GOLDEN TIME are the two best(both on Merge records).SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH is good too but it`s got alot of songs so it lacks some consistency.ROCK*A*TEENS and CRY(on the Daemon label)are their first two records, they have their gems but they had`nt totally hit their stride yet. This band should`ve gotten alot of attention but instead they fell into obscurity.Tenement Halls` KNITTING NEEDLES AND BICYCLE BELLS is recommended too

They claim their influences on their myspace page as Mission Of Burma,Kiss, and Yes.um ok :) Great to have the original line up back!(with the addition of the woman on keyboards/violin)

This weekend I almost had to flash a big WG into the sky to summon you to my side, SG, when I completely forgot what his other band was called. I asked the guy who was working there if he could help by saying "His new project is called Tenement Halls...he plays guitar...A guy named SG recommended them...SG is Canadian...You're Canadian..."

*edit to keep this on topic........

The Tenement Halls album was 4 years ago so that would throw a hip canadian off in knowing what you were talking about  You might be able to find the Rock*A*Teens stuff cheap since they`re not that famous so dig around

I was hoping for the Bay City Rollers when I saw Saturday night! :P

I'm glad I came here...I got to see those video's Jeremiah posted...that was great watching those just now.

Today the dow fell again below 10,000 ....Man of Truth, one of my fav fun time vamps on youtube, has been saying for months that the stimulus money was just propping up the economy temporarily...but when Peter Schiff says so.....everyone starts to listen....It's freakin Peter Schiff....if you are into the financials and into watching your money....(evaporate instead of grow lately).....listen to this piece from CNBC. He says the dollar is going down in 2010...not 10%, 20%, not even 50%...he says 60 to 70 %...OUCH.....It's beginning to look a lot like the Weimar Republic around here again. All we have done is set our selves up for a bigger fall. I guess it's time to really love your garden. He says don't invest in US stocks, at all...America is done, it's broke. PETER!!!!!!!!!!! Not afraid to get on TV and tell the truth. Rock um, Sock um Robots....

gosh, I had to edit this a buch, cause we have lights in the sky tonight and all the kids are outside making a big fuss about it but it seems to be some sort of promo thing downtown. Funny...

A friend just reminded me of Mark Gormley. Anybody heard of him? He's 'an intense singer-songwriter' and 'a God among men.' Apparently it took him 33 years to write ten songs. Here's one of them. Enjoy.

I've been feeling a little down and just today...I was thinking what would really pick me up...then I remembered HJfreaks....gosh...I love this guy and thanks to the internet I can have him in my life when I want. HJ is the kind of guy I would like to have as a renter, his bed is always made...takes care of his clothes and can play his bass guitar.

My favorite song right now (but that changes all the time with him)

My second favorite song...and a different dress too!

Oh, the Mark what was it..Grombly was great.

He certainly would be an awesome roommate! We could do eachother's hair and wear full length ball gowns to dinner. Though he would opt for a shorter one to show off his legs. And I would be okay with that.

And then I want this guy to be my husband. Forever.
